This is a vinyl LP pressing of Tale of the Princess Kaguya (Original Soundtrack) by Joe Hisaishi. Tale of the Princess Kaguya is a 2013 Japanese animated historical fantasy film co-written and directed by Isao Takahata that is an adaptation of The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter, a 10th-century Japanese literary tale and was produced by Studio Ghibli. In 2012, Shin-ichiro Ikebe was announced to write the film's score. However, in 2013, Joe Hisaishi replaced Ikebe as the composer. This would be the only time Hisaishi scored a film directed by Isao Takahata. As a student of anime composer Takeo Watanabe, Hisaishi's music has been known to explore and incorporate different genres, including minimalist, experimental electronic, Western classical, and Japanese classical.
